Manager of Financial Services

Iris Kirby House is a progressive, dynamic, well respected community organization. We have an immediate opening for the permanent full time position of Manager of Financial Services.
Key responsibilities of this position include:

Managing of the management and accounting services, including budget preparation, budget monitoring; accounts payable; accounts receivable; payroll and all its functions, including computation of taxable benefits and all duties associated with payroll management, maintaining of the pension program; capital asset management and reporting; financial monitoring and analysis advice; maintaining all aspects of the general ledger; preparing reports in support of the annual audit; ensuring all accounting practices and procedures are in accordance with established accounting principles; interpretation of the Collective Agreement; clerical duties and administrative support.
Qualifications:

  •  Minimum of three to five years experience preferably within a non-profit setting
  •  Extensive experience working in Sage 50, familiarity with other computer software applications such as Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint
  •  Knowledge of all aspects of payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and maintenance of the general ledger
  •  Experience in budget development and monitoring
  •  Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  •  Experience working in a unionized environment
  •  Ability to work in a sensitive work environment, with a clear understanding of confidentiality as it relates to our clients
  •  Minimum completion of the 3 year Business Management Program (Accounting); consideration will be given to those applicants who possess equivalent training and experience.

 

Salary is commensurate with the HL Pay Scale ( currently under review).

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, key responsibilities of this position include:

  •  Development and implementation of the outreach program ensuring that it fits with the overall strategic direction of the Organization;
  •  Directing, marketing, planning, organizing, controlling and managing the outreach program and services;
  •  Ensuring supportive services are provided within the community, which will include monitoring and evaluation of  the program;
  •  Overseeing the development, evaluation and implementation of policy, programs and services;
  •  Accountability for the mental health program within the Organization;
  •  Overseeing the safety, security and accessibility of all second stage housing units/properties; involvement in ongoing consultation, collaboration, liaison, education and awareness functions within the community;
  •  Addressing all residential needs and ensuring that programs are completed in a manner that will achieve the desired outcomes;

 

Qualifications:

  •  Minimum of three to five years in a senior management position, preferably within a non-profit setting;
  •  Extensive experience working with victims of family violence;
  •  Experience in therapeutic programs, group processes, counseling, advocacy, referral and comprehensive case management;
  •  Detailed experience in liaising with all levels of government, community stakeholders and agencies;
  •  Research, advocacy and community outreach in the area of violence against women;
  •  Experience in policy development;
  •  Previous work in group development and group facilitation;
  •  Knowledge of HIFIS software for data collection would be an asset;
  •  Knowledge of the Homelessness Partnering Strategy and Community Plans would serve as an asset;
  •  Masters degree in any of the following: Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work or Education, consideration will be given to those applicants who possess equivalent training and experience.
